Welcome from the Howell Church of Christ Come, see who we are and what we are about! Join us in our walk with God. Having a love for God is also a fear of God, but not of being afraid of Him. It is reverent fear, having deep respect for His sovereignty. "He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the LORD require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God." Micah 6:8 Jesus teaches that worship is no longer about what city or what building, but that worship comes from the heart, and He builds His church through the assembling of the saints (believers) and sharing the Good News about Jesus. "God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and in truth.” John 4:24 The sacred writings (or scirpture) are able to instruct believers in understanding the mind of God for our spiritual education and edification for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus "All scripture is inspired by God and is useful for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, so that the person of God may be proficient, equipped for every good work." 2 Timothy 3:16-17 The Lord calls on His disciples (or believers) to love one another as He has loved, by considering others more important than oneself. "By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.” John 13:35 The challenge for believers is to allow the Word of God through the Holy Spirit to transform our way of thinking so that we might begin to display the character of Jesus Christ. "The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control." Galatians 5:22-23 In part, the apostles' teaching encourages one another along the way. And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near. Hebrews 10:24-25 Come as you are, but don’t leave as you came! |
